An unusual pair of Victorian captain armchairs. Both chairs are identical and feature an unusually flat carved backrest, as well as both chairs, being abnormally large. These chairs feature a swooping curved back with elbow chair like scroll arms, both chairs feature a lovely grain to the oak frame maintaining a rich patina through years of constant use.
The seats are caned which is original but again, steers away from the usual solid wooden seat that would normally be featured in captain or smoker bow armchairs. Both raised on heavily turned legs almost resembling that of a bobbin leg design. The four legs are united by an "H' stretcher again heavily turned to create a busy yet somewhat simplistic design.
Both chairs are in good condition with the seats of both being very sturdy and without holes, One of the frames of the chairs does have some repairs that have been carried out to it over the years which I have tried to hi-light in the images.
These chairs are available singularly.
