A very charming Italian walnut console table raised on four carved square tapering legs. This console table features an extensive network of inlay to both the top, sides, and legs featuring geometric and decorative designs throughout, a very typical feature of early 19th-century furniture.
This table appears to have seen many years of use throughout its life, making for a very characterful table rich in colour and unusual in design. The table top features an oval-shaped ebonised center framed by an intricately inlaid surround creating a symmetrical and pleasing design.
The inner ebonised oval found on the surface top grounds the table creating a focal point that your eye can't help but be drawn to. While this wouldn't have been the original design, it works in well with the overall appearance of the table and adds an unusual yet sympathetic take on the original arrangement.
