A French maple top and pine tavern table with original 'barn red' painted legs.

Pine country furniture from the 18th century used to be painted blue or a barn red, over time, the paint on the legs of this table have oxidised, This causes the paint to fade which gives it more of a mellow look thus making it less vibrant than it once was when originally painted.

The structure of the table is connected by four stretchers which are held in place via four long dowels through the center of each of the four legs. The stretchers have a lovely patina and are very nicely aged and worn through hundreds of years of constant use.

The table features a very deep center dovetailed drawer complete with original lock. The base of the drawer is composed of one large piece of timber and runs from front to back.

This table has an abundance of character and charm, a very unique find!
