A 19th-century continental serpentine chest of drawers featuring exceptional brass circular handles with matching escutcheon to each drawer. Raised on tapering legs cupped by brass feet, an original feature that would have been used to prevent damage mainly by moisture.
This chest of drawers has been painted in a traditional method using natural pigments and an authentic traditional recipe creating a pleasing aesthetic mimicking age in an authentic process. The mixture of pigments has created a lovely rich almost 'army green' like tone, pairing itself extremely well to the dark oak top.
Dating from around 1890 this is a great example featuring a soft graduated curved front drawing your eye along the exterior of this chest. This serpentine chest is framed with two strips of simple carving on either side of the three graduated drawers, a subtle feature that creates a more unified look.
