A near pair of late 19th century Persian Malayer carpet runners. Showcasing an intrinsic geometric pattern highlighting the infamous Herati design, this design consists of a lozenge form with floral motifs at the corners, surrounded by lancet-shaped leaves, sometimes called Mahi, or fish. Demonstrating rich and bold tones throughout, sat on an indigo ground enclosed by pale blue borders featuring stylised flowerheads serrated by zig-zag leaves.
