An antique hand-painted marriage or dowry chest originating from Northern Europe and dating from the late 18th century.
Featuring subtle original handpainted decorations to the front and sides of the chest with further faded decorations to the top creating a wonderfully soft and rich design. Featuring a hinged lid, which opens to reveal a full-length compartment inside with original ironwork both to the top and the front of the chest in the form of a triangular hand-forged escutcheon.
This chest is raised on simple block feet which have also been painted in the same original medium - This blanket box would look delightful in any setting pairing itself extremely well to being used as a coffee table.
